Saturday, May 17, 2008: The Welcome ministry team meets in Comfort Hall, or Wheeler House if double-booked. Publicity, hospitality, and communications are coordinated.. 9:00am - 11:00am; People to People meeting in Comfort Hall.. 11:30am
Sunday, May 18, 2008: Holy Eucharist according to Rite I in the Book of Common Prayer, a traditional (Elizabethan-era language) form. There is usually organ accompaniment for the hymns and service music, but no choir. The nursery is usually NOT available for this service.. 8:00am - 9:00am; The Nursery is open for programs between the services and the 10:30 service.. 9:00am - 12:00pm; The Choir Practices most Sundays at this time in the Sanctuary. On Second Sundays, the Celebration Band practices.. 9:15am - 10:15am; Holy Eucharist using Rite II in the Book of Common Prayer. This is a modern language service. Except on the second Sunday of each month (when we do contemorary music) and other special occasions, such as baptism, Children ages 3 to 10 are invited to go to Children's Worship following the greetings. They return at the Peace. Nursery available.. 10:30am - 12:00pm; Join us following the 10:30 Eucharist for coffee, punch, snacks, and conversation.. 11:45am - 12:45pm; The Episcopal Youth Community will hold its end-of-the-year pool party at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Stine. This will also be our farewell to Jessie, Thaddeus, Rose, and Ms Tamisyn. We hope that you will be able to attend to help us celebrate their ministry at Christ Church, and all of the wonderful things we have done together this year. Please leave all electronic equipment at home.. 12:01pm - 7:00pm; Jenna Losh Piano Recital and Reception. The recital will be in the Sanctuary; a reception follows in Comfort Hall.. 3:00pm - 5:00pm; Education For Ministry. This is a four-year college course taught as an extension of the University of the South at Sewanee, TN. Follow this link for more info on EFM.. 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Monday, May 19, 2008: Al-Anon (support group for family members of alcoholics) meets in Wheeler House. 6:00pm; Boy Scouts troop 98 meets in Comfort Hall. 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Tuesday, May 20, 2008: English as a Second Language Class, by St. Tammany Literacy Assistance, in Wheeler House.. 9:30am; The Girl Scouts meet in Comfort Hall.. 5:00pm - 7:00pm; English as a Second Language class, offered by the St. Tammany Literacy Assistance program in Wheeler House.. 6:30pm; St. Catherine's Guild (Book Club) meets at the Sue Rotolo for dinner, a book discussion, and Compline. Sue has kindly offered to provide pizza for supper. St. Catherine's collects $1 from each member each month for outreach. The book for May is The Island by Victoria Hislop (described as an intelligent beach book!).. 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Wednesday, May 21, 2008: Bible Study in the Morgan Library. A reflection on the Gospel for the upcoming Sunday. No advance preparation is required.. 10:00am - 11:00am; Holy Eucharist, Rite II.. 5:30pm - 6:00pm

Major Events for the next Year

Monday, July 21, 2008: Vacation Bible School Christ Church is having a beach party for VBS this year! Pre-schoolers, younger elementary students, and their parents will want to mark their calendars, grab towels and tanning lotion! Adult and youth volunteers are needed to help make this a great event. Please see Betty Tonkel to find out how you can be involved. Continues through Friday, July 25th.. 8:00am - 12:00pm

Camp Hardtner

It's time to go to Hardtner! Once again, the Men's Club will be underwriting a portion of the camp tuition for any member of Christ Church. who wishes to go to Hardtner. Camp info is available online at http://www.camphardtner.org/summercamps.html .

Our food bank

is still low. Please remember the food bags on your next trip to the grocery store. Christ Church distributes approximately two to three bags of much needed food per week. As part of your Lenten observance, please remember to bring one IFU (International Food Unit) with you to church each week. Monetary donations for the food bank are also appreciated. See the list of contents for the bags.
