Our call as stewards of God's gifts in the world requires that we manage our time, treasure, and talents, to maintain our facilities while pushing forward with mission. The whole parish meets every January to hear reports, set broad policy, and elect a vestry. We depend on these committees to perform the day-to-day business of the parish.

The various ministries of Christ Church are organized around a 12-member Vestry, chaired by the Rector. The Vestry meets on the third Thursday evening of each month. Vestry members are elected in accordance with Episcopal Canon Law at an Annual Parish Meeting in January of each year. Meetings of the Vestry are almost always open to all members of the congregation. Each year, 4 members retire and 4 new members are elected to 3-year terms, so that there are always 12 members serving.

The Building and Grounds Commission is responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the facilities of Christ Church. While a janitorial service is employed for basic cleaning, and a landscaping service for the yard maintenance, much of this work is accomplished by volunteers in the parish. Periodic Work Days are scheduled to maintain and improve our building and grounds. Some individual members assume responsibility for the maintenance of a specific area of the facility.

Understanding “vigil
” to be a period of devotion on the eve of a
fesival, the memorial garden at Christ Church has come to be called
the Vigil Garden. Located in the courtyard between the Church and
the Wheeler Education Building, this lovely garden is designed for
the committal of the cremated remains of baptized members of the
Church (or members of their family) who, upon their death, wish for
their mortal bodies to rest near the place where the great events of
the Christian Life -- Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, the regular
worship of God -- have taken place. The Vigil Garden Committee is
entrusted with provision for maintenance and continuing upkeep of
the garden with funding provided by usage fees.
