Welcome

Christ Church is a big family. As a family, we come together to share common interests and experience, a meal, or work together on a project. We often invite others to join us for a day of fun, and perhaps even to join our family.

Welcome & Publicity Committee

  • Gus Michel, Chair
  • Nancy Copes
  • David Daigle
  • Katherine Daigle

This ministry is called to invite the general Slidell community to join us at Christ Episcopal Church Slidell and help them to feel welcome here. While not replacing the personal invitation, we invite the public with signs, announcement and reporting of major events in mass media, newspaper and telephone directory ads, the web site, and more.

We also help welcome newcomers by printing nametags, preparing guest packets, coordinating the hospitality hour following the Sunday services, and inviting all (especially newcomers) to join us at this and other parish events.

We also strive to keep the parish family informed about events on the Parish and Diocesan calendar, and other opportunities for spiritual growth. The church website at http://www.christchurchslidell.com/ contains brief news stories of general interest, service schedules, event calendar, driving directions, and feedback pages, as well as this programs directory. There is also a selection of publicity items in the weekly service packet prepared by the rector's administrative assistant.

EYC (Episcopal Youth Community)

  • Jodi Solito, coordinator
  • Sue Stine, coordinator

The EYC at Christ Church gives the youth of the parish a place to experience Christ's love through friendship, fellowship, worship, discipleship, and outreach. We are welcoming group who enjoy hanging out, helping out and having fun. The EYC (grades 6-12) meets together for lunch after the 10:30a.m. service about once per month. The schedule of events is posted on the youth bulletin board in the front hall. Other separate activities and outings are organized for the group throughout the year as detailed in the church bulletin. The leaders provide a supporting environment where potential for participation in the life of the church and Christian service is strongly encouraged - while having fun at the same time!

We encourage our young people to become involved in diocesan activities, by arranging for them to attend Rally and Happening at the Solomon Episcopal Center near Hammond La. Rally is a fun- and spirit-filled weekend, providing participants an opportunity to interact with young people from other Churches throughout the Diocese. Happening is a renewal weekend for teenagers in 10th through 12th grades and the adults who work with them. The weekend includes opportunities for candidates to become better acquainted with themselves, with others in the Diocese, with the Episcopal Church, and with Jesus Christ.
