Christian Education 2011-12

Pre-K through Fifth Grade: 10am Sunday Mornings, continuing until the Peace at 10:30
Sixth through Twelfth Grades: are merged with the Episcopal Youth Community (EYC), alternate Sundays at 6:30 to 8:15 pm
Rector's Adult Forum: Most Sundays at 9:30a.m.
Bible Study: Meets Wednesdays at 10:00a.m.

Parish Family Directory

We are now collecting names for make-up seatings for our new photo directory; call Stephanie in the church office. Date and time are TBA, sometime in March. In addition to a copy of the directory, each family photographed will receive a complimentary 8x10 portrait, and has the opportunity to purchase additional portraits.

Our food bank

currently needs Red Beans & Rice (1 lb pkgs.), canned beef stew/chicken & dumplings, canned tuna/chicken, peanut butter, cheese crackers . Please remember the food bags on your next trip to the grocery store. Christ Church distributes approximately two to three bags of much needed food per week. Monetary donations for the food bank are also appreciated. See the list of contents for the bags.

Acolytes Needed!

We are in need of acolytes between the ages of 10 and 18 (and their parants) who are willing to commit to a monthly service at 8am or 10:30am. All events are rotated monthly and your schedule can be accomodated. If interested, please contact the church office by e-mail or phone at 985-643-4531.

Safeguarding God's Children

is a training course required by the Episcopal Church for all who work with children in the Church, as well as staff and vestry members. It is also a great resource for parents! Recertification is now required every three years . Lisa Carvin is now doing classes on an as-needed basis.

Tue, Feb 7: The Men's Club meets monthly in Comfort Hall. Fellowship at 6:30, Dinner at 7:00. Dinner is $5.00. Drinks are $1.00 , 6:30pm
Wed, Feb 8: Bible Study in the Morgan Library , 10:00am; English as A Second Language Class , in Comfort Hall, taught by Saint Tammany Literacy Assistance , 5:30pm
Thu, Feb 9: St. Clare's Craft Guild meets in Comfort Hall to prepare crafts for shut-ins , 10:00am; The Choir Practices in Comfort Hall , 7:00pm
Fri, Feb 10: No Events Scheduled
Sat, Feb 11: The Episcopal Church Women meet in Comfort Hall for a business meeting followed by a potluck luncheon , 11:00am
Sun, Feb 12: Holy Eucharist , Rite I . There is usually organ accompaniment for the hymns and service music, but no choir. The nursery is usually NOT available for this service , 8:00am; The Nursery is open, 9:00 to noon , 9:00am; Choir Rehearsal in the Sanctuary , 9:30am; Rector's Adult Forum in Comfort Hall. Subjects to be announced a few weeks in advance , 9:30am; Sunday School , beginning at 10am and continuing to the Peace at the 10:30 service , 10:00am; Holy Eucharist , Rite II . Nursery available , 10:30am; Hospitality Hour Join us following the 10:30 Eucharist for coffee, punch, snacks, and conversation , 11:45am; Meeting of the Episcopal Youth Community in Wheeler House.
